The second coming of Christ has been cancelled, and thank God. Just look at this hot mess of a cast!
Sex Pistols’ John Rotten Lyndon was playing King Herod; Destiny Child’s Michelle Williams sang Mary Magdelene; Incubus' Brandon Boyd was Judas Iscariot; 'N Sync's JC Chasez had Pontius Pilate. And Jesus? An ITV Superstar (British for American Idol), Ben Forster, who won the 2012 competition with his performance of the title song. And his prize? The lead role of Jesus in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar for the UK arena tour, followed by an Australian tour.
Mega press fanfare hyped the “global phenomenon” coming to North America. Tickets here went on sale in April, and the tour was to kick off in ten days in New Orleans, then hitting the Freeman Coliseum June 19. The New York Times reported that cast members had been rehearsing with the director just yesterday.
So what the hell happened? The stars aligned, and then they crashed. Why-oh-why? Did it suck that bad? All the YouTube videos of their rehearsals have been switched to private.
