Alamo City Comic Con
will once again take over the halls of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center September 11, 12 and 13, 2015, and a brand new international film festival will coincide with the popular pop culture convention.

ACCC brainchild Alfredo “Apple” De La Fuente announced the dates of the convention's third year at a San Antonio Film mixer Friday held at Brick at Blue Star. Dozens of members of the San Antonio film community came out to network and listen to a panel of local directors and producers share advice on bringing a script to screen. At the end of the panel, De La Fuente surprised the audience with the comic con announcement and the news that the Alamo City Film Festival will be held alongside the convention.

77,000 attended last year's comic con, making the convention, which has only been held twice, the third largest of its type in the United States, according to De la Fuente. For year three, De La Fuente is hoping to put on a film festival that replicates the massive success of ACCC.

San Antonio has several film festivals that take place during the year, including CineFestival and the San Antonio Film Festival, but organizers are hoping that the addition of the Alamo City Film Festival will help bolster the local film community and the city's reputation as a place to make movies. De La Fuente played two trailers to announce the festival that referenced San Antonio's film legacy with flashes of the Majestic Theater, Pee-Wee Herman and Wings, the first Academy Award-winner for Best Picture, which was filmed at San Antonio's Kelly Field. Trailers were also played to announce ACCC's 2015 dates and a new documentary called Syfytonians, which is expecting to be released later this spring.
