Tim Duncan Named to All-Star Game for 15th Time

For the 15th time in his 18-year career, Tim Duncan has made the NBA All-Star game. With the tipoff on Sunday, February 15 in New York, Duncan joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Shaq and Kevin Garnett as the only players in the 15-time All-Star club, as the Spurs' awesome Instagram pic makes clear.

Duncan is a member of another prestigious All-Star Club, joining Bob Cousy, Jerry West and Shaquille O'Neal as the only players who made the All-Star Game in each of their first 13 seasons. From 1997-2011, over three presidencies and four San Antonio mayors, Duncan suited up for the All-Star exhibition.

With the Spurs at 30-17, Duncan is averaging a double-double, with 14.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists. The power forward was voted onto the Western Conference squad by the head coaches, losing the starting PF position to the fan vote, which went to Blake Griffin.

Notable snubs from the Western Conference include Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins, Portland's Damian Lillard and San Antonio's Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Since Manu Ginobili joined the Spurs in 2002, Duncan, Parker and Ginobili have never played together in an All Star Game.

Duncan will be joined in the weekend's festivities by Marco Belinelli, who will try to defend his three-point contest crown against Kyle Korver, Wes Matthews, J.J. Reddick and Golden State's Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
