Are you tired of the direction San Antonio's art scene is heading?
Or is the Alamo City in the right place?
Either way, if you want to have a voice in all things art in San Antonio you can apply
to be on the San Antonio Arts Commission.
The commission, circa April, is brand-spanking new and comprised of 15 members.
However, the trick here, is regardless of your application, the decision is up to the mayor and City Council and appointments last two years.
The board is made up of a chairperson; four people for visual arts; two for performing arts; one for literary arts; four for public art and urban design; one for cultural festivals and events; and two for art patronage.
Your responsibility if chosen?
To make recommendations "in accordance with adopted policies and guidelines regarding the City's arts funding and public art programs."
And you have to go to meetings, which are on the third Tuesday of every month at 9 a.m. in the Municipal Plaza Building "B" Room at 114 W. Commerce.
