With installations in Europe, South America, China and Thailand, Belgian Artist Arne Quinze's "Whispers" becomes his first permanent installation in the United States.
And it's right here in San Antonio, down on the Mission Reach.
The San Antonio River Foundation dedicated the installation, which was initially called "WIND," but changed by Quinze to "Whispers" once he visited the Alamo City.
"Whispers" will be connected to a similar installation in the Netherlands.
Quinze's employs vibrant colors on the installation, which seems to whisper in the wind.
According to the San Antonio River Foundation, Quinze attempts to connect and draw attention to the flora that characterizes Bexar County with his multidimensional sculpture that abstractly reflects native mesquite, small oaks and pecan trees, which his color scheme reflects. Rich blues, purples and yellows reference Texas' wonderful wildflowers.
