The shopping options keep growing for the Southtown area. Already home to Uncommon Fare (301 E. Cevallos St.), Blue Star Provisions (1414 S. Alamo St.), the latest H-E-B Flores Market (which opened last week at 516 S. Flores St.), the neighborhood will add The Urban Farm Stand at 1423 S. Presa St. this Friday with a grand opening party at 6 p.m.

Opened by business partners Karen Haynes and Patti Hinkley, the shop, which will cater to the "Baja Lavaca," Lavaca and King William neighborhoods, sits at just over 1,100 square-feet, three blocks north of Freetail's Taproom. With a commitment to sustainable, local and organic produce and products, Haynes and Hinkley are featuring goods from CKC Farms, Johnson's Backyard Garden, Element Kombucha, Pop Culture (popcorn with probiotics), Mother Culture Yogurt and Cisneros Farms.

"We're still refining and selecting farmers," Hinkley said.

Prices will remain comparable to the other neighborhood grocers, and hours will run 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sundays for any vegetable emergencies.
