Educators all across the Lone Star State can breathe a sigh of relief: Mary Lou Bruner lost her bid to sit on the State Board of Education.

The Texas Tribune reports that Keven Ellis edged Bruner out of the Republican primary last night.

As you can see in the above screenshot, Bruner is an insane conspiracy theorist who drank a little too much of that spiked Tea Party tea.

Among other inflammatory statements, Bruner has railed against people who don't like confederate regalia, suggested that pro-life advocates were really to blame for the tragic shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood facility and, yes, she thinks all Muslims are terrorists.

The folks over at the Texas Freedom Network have a fantastic collection of Brunerisms.

However, the State Board of Education is still rife with controversy and will continue to be. But, hey, at least Bruner won't be able to provide input on Texas' first Mexican-American history, which, predictably, is whitewashed and under fire for inaccuracies and misinterpretations

Give credit where credit is due, though. It was Republicans who finally had enough of Bruner, voting for her opponent instead.
