The Eastside is about to get a new chef-driven bar concept we're aching to hang out in. Opened by chefs Josh Cross and Rick Frame, Toro Taco Bar
(114 Brooklyn Ave.) will open its gates this Friday as part of Contemporary Art Month
The opening slated for Friday, March 20 at 5 p.m. with agave-based drinks, Texan craft brews and a small menu of tacos along other South Texan bites. The two chefs met while cooking for Bruce Auden's Restaurant Biga
on Locust Street. Cross and Frame eventually left town and rekindled their chef bromance at a recent Wicked Night at Wickes dinner hosted by Citrus executive chef, Robbie Nowlin.
Toro Taco Bar
features mostly outdoor seating, and 20 seats inside the small indoor bar. Art fans can expect to find works by Albert Alvarez, Avalos Avi, Bryson Brooks and Raygun Johns and Ed Saveedra as curated by Rigo Luna. The bar will join Dignowity Meats
, Alamo Beer Company
and Big Hops "The Bridge"
in opening up shop in the city's Eastside.
