Just in time for Cinco de Mayo weekend, Mezcalería Mixtli opens up for business Friday evening from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., serving up a finely honed menu of botanas, Mexican craft beers and spirits.
San Antonio's first mezcalería is the latest venture from Chef Diego Galicia, Rico Torres and bartender Jesse Torres, the culinary dream team
. The tiny Olmos Park eatery, located at The Yard is known for its 12-seat table and rotating menu of regional Mexican cuisine. Mezcalería Mixtli, also located in The Yard at 5313 McCullough Ave., expands the team's Mexican gastronomical influence. Expect the same level of quality in more relaxed dishes. The kitchen will pump out creative takes on carnitas, ceviches, empanadas, tostadas and other botanas, while the bar features roughly 40 mezcales plus tequilas, Mexican wines, beers and other hard-to-find, south-of-the-border spirits, such as Raicilla, bacanora, charanda and Sotol.
