Web Editor
The Current is seeking a full-time web editor. The ideal applicant should have a good working knowledge of html, css, xml, SQL, classic ASP, and flash. Knowledge of javascript and the Adobe Suite CS4 a plus. Must be willing and able to work with web editors in the company to develop new applications for the site using the wide array of available web technologies such as the google API and prototype. This individual is responsible for publishing the Current's editorial content, maintaining and improving the site's functionality and design, improving and tracking traffic, and developing multimedia editorial features (i.e. interactive maps and slide shows) in partnership with the Current's editorial staff. Applicants do not need to be writers or editors, but the ability to write headlines and short captions when needed is a plus. This person also works with the sales departments to make sure ads are published and functioning properly. Innovation, creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness are required.

Production Internships (unpaid)
The San Antonio Current, the award-winning altweekly newspaper of the nation’s seventh-largest U.S. city, welcomes production (graphic design) interns during the Spring and Summer semesters. Start/end dates and hours are flexible and can be tailored to fit work and school schedules. Applicants should be skilled in basic design programs such as Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Indesign or Quark. Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall ’09 internships.
As a San Antonio Current Production Intern, you will (in no particular order):
• Work alongside some cool designers in a funky, creative, efficient, and relaxed environment.
• Treat yourself to a lunch fit for a king every day at various downtown San Antonio eateries.
• Find out about all the cool stuff to do in town before all your friends!
• Gain experience in other aspects of production such as scanning, color correcting, pdf-ing, and newsprint specifications.
• Be included in internal concepting/brainstorming sessions and general staff meetings.
• Contribute ideas and designs to various projects such as in-house promotion, advertising, and web ads.
• Walk around barefoot if it suits your fancy.
• Be issued an unlimited allowance of questions to ask.
• Get an entire parking spot in which to leave your motor vehicle
• Be treated like a vital member of the team.
A clear way to think of this internship is as a trade. Much like you might trade a PB&J sandwich for a pudding cup...
