Carole King, the subject of a forthcoming PBS American Masters documentary and the brilliant writer of some of pop music's greatest compositions, was recently celebrated at a Kennedy Center Honors ceremony in which none other than the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, performed one of King's classics, "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."

President Obama can be seen wiping a tear from his eye as Franklin plays through the first verse of the tune at the elegant grand piano center stage. Franklin, who is most well known for her colossal and incredibly soulful voice is, actually, an incredibly talented pianist. Her roots in gospel made the singer not only one of the finest voices of any generation, but one of the most heartfelt musicians.

By the end of the roof-raising performance from the 73-year-old, the audience is on their feet, not only applauding the brilliance of Franklin's rendition, but the capacities of King to distill human truths and passion into song. Try to stay dry during this one, Barack couldn't.
