ARTIFACTS

Local quad artist Robert Rehm (“LOVE & indepenDANCE reigns,” February 20) is back at it again with his annual neighborhood Easter parade (Can you believe that Easter is days away? Days!).

When we last spoke with Rehm and his sister, Gayle Jones, they were raising money to hit their goal of $1,500 to put on the event, which consists of shutting down a block on Southtown’s Devine street and holding a mini parade for the local children. It’s a tradition Rehm has been doing for years no matter what other obligations he has on his plate. (He’s heavily involved in outside art projects, including working on the upcoming Cornyation, for which he’s designed for the past 12 years.)

His dedication to Cornyation and his tireless efforts working in local theater led the Cornyation board of directors to institute the Robert Rehm theatre arts scholarship in 2006 (application available at: cornyation.org/scholarship.htm). The scholarship is open to SAISD high-school seniors and the deadline to apply is May 1.

… and one more thing, if you haven’t stopped by Curblog to check out pics and footage from Luminaria: Arts Night, do it now! Maybe you’ll spot yourself dancing alongside Urban-15 on the streets near Alamo Plaza.
