The Tobin Hill Neighborhood Association’s second installment of Art on the Hill — a culture-filled stroll around the historic district just north of downtown — will be even meatier than the first, rewarding reckless souls willing to hike in the Second Friday heat with work by Ben Mata, Steven DaLuz, and Larry Graeber (at super-designers Gary Sprott and Gunnar Burklund’s G2 Art Sight), among many others. Northern art-walk outpost Tycoon Flats is hosting an all-ceramics show with Wesley Harvey, Diana Kersey, Lyn Woods, and manager Taaffe Caton (also: burgers and beer), and Blue Star émigré R.E.M. Gallery will kick off its Tobin Hill residency with a CAM show by Margaret Craig. The walk is 6-10 p.m. Friday, July 10. Get your google on and pick up a pocket-size guide at any of the locations mentioned above, or La Casa Rosa Art Studio, High Wire Art Gallery, Josephine Theatre, and M4Dance Studio.
Onstage, AtticRep continues its unflinching exploration of transgressive behavior July 8 with David Harrower’s Blackbird, inspired by the case of U.S. Marine Tony Studebaker, whose five-day affair with 12-year-old Shevaun Pennington resulted in years of jail time here and abroad for Studebaker.
