The Witte Museum promotes learning through exhibitions, programs, and collections in natural history, science, and South Texas heritage. Unjustly underrated in favor of other more “serious” museums, the Witte has had its own share of superb exhibits: the diorama-based “Dinosaurs Unearthed,” “Mummies of the World,” and “Bluebonnets and Beyond,” by American impressionist Julian Onderdonk. Long-term exhibits include more mummies (“Unwrapping the Past”) and dinos (“Vanished Texans”), as well as “World of Water: Take it to the River,” a look into the environment of the San Antonio River.
