WINNER: U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julián Castro
> The next vice president of the United States? That's been the rumor for the past year. There's a collective urge in SA to see hometown hero and former mayor Julián Castro picked to run side-by-side with likely nominee Hillary Clinton. Even if he's not picked, the Alamo City will always root for Julián. The son of a Chicana activist and twin brother to U.S. Representative Joaquín Castro, Julián graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Stanford University, and was first elected to City Council in 2001. Over the next 13 years, and three mayoral terms — 2009, 2011 and 2013 — Julián transformed San Antonio with the creation of SA2020, Café College and Pre-K for SA and captured the Alamo City's vision and hopes with the "City on the Rise" slogan. He's also the youngest mayor ever of one of the U.S.' largest 50 cities.
