Brian Eno: 'Lux'

Following the path of his pioneering Ambient recordings from the late '70s and early '80s, the acclaimed producer and self-described "non-musician" presents a dreamy suite that should further his stature as a master of both space and atmosphere. Its four 20-minute-long pieces stand in sharp contrast to Eno's more bombastic recent work with Coldplay and David Byrne, and offer (given your level of patience) a welcome respite from the noise of the election/holiday season. This is situational music, and frankly there are few appropriate situations for 20-min tempo-less soundscapes. But if you can manage to find a quiet moment with a really good set of headphones, Lux offers welcome relief.
