Don't be blue if you missed out on free tacos this past week as Torchy's Tacos (999 E Basse) tried to win over the hearts of San Anto eaters during its first day of business. The newest addition to Lincoln Heights opened the doors at its giant 4,362-square-foot location with a full menu of favorites, including the Trailer Park (fried chicken, green chilies, lettuce, cheese, pico and poblano ranch), green chile queso and a Firewater Menu (AKA margs, y'all). Operating hours are 7 a.m. -10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.

And now for ways to keep the family happy this holiday season (or at least ways to booze it up for a reason). John Russ of Lüke San Antonio will serve up a few special dishes for Christmas Eve and Day, including quail and venison gumbo, choice of beef tenderloin or smoked duck breast as a main course and a Creole trifle dessert, all available a la carte or as a prix fixe ($50 per person). The restaurant will also host a four-course prix fixe NYE menu inside their second floor dining room with seatings at 6 and 9 p.m. for $95 per person, (tickets are available online at shop.chefjohnbesh.com/lukenewyearseve).

You can also celebrate the season at The Brooklynite (516 Brooklyn) on Tuesday, December 23 starting at 9 p.m. with a Tiki Yuletide party complete with surf-inspired drinksies, all the garnishes you can think of, and tiki-paired eats via Locavore. Sister bar Stay Golden Social House (401 Pearl Pkwy) will host yet "Another Ugly Sweater Party" with bonus holiday movies that same evening in case your Hawaiian print-button down is at the cleaners.

Other NYE dinner ideas come via Feast (1024 S Alamo, (210) 354-1024), which will host two four-course seatings, one at 7 p.m. for $79 and one at 9:30 p.m. for $89, the latter of which includes a midnight champers toast and a view of the Hemisfair fireworks. Or brave the downtown reverie with a visit to Las Ramblas inside Hotel Contessa (306 W Market, (210) 298-8040), which will feature a Spanish-style four-course dinner; seatings are slated for 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. at $100 per person.

Finally, Alberico Fine Wine quietly opened at The Yard inside 5221 McCullough under the direction of chef Robert Blake (formerly with the Argyle Dining Club). The eatery, with a flagship location in McAllen, Texas, features 350 wines from across the globe.
