Each week, the Current will collect and republish the best commentary we receive through parcel post, email, and our Facebook and Twitter accounts to allow more diverse points of view to see print in our pages. While we may accept user IDs, twitter handles, or stage names, we save a special place in our collective, inky heart for those who sign off under the names their birthing official gave ‘em.

I cannot understand how people, in fretting about the unborn, forget about the people who are ALREADY living. How can one justify denying healthcare access to so many living women? It is saddening that we have such a fragmented view of the right/good. Altheatremaine

Stupid men ... always making such moral decisions on behalf of women. I want to see them get pregnant by some good-for-nothing dude that abandons him and has family issues or no money and he will see that abortion is not some candy ride that women take but a very hard decision taken for the good of both lives. — Mistress Astelia

Unfortunately as long as conservatives and some Democrats think corporate welfare takes precedence over actual human beings, this current right wing legislative majority will starve out the government and more people will die. The so-called leadership wants this “plantation” frame of mind, so the working class, the poor, the sick and hungry will give up all dignity. Well guess what? I’m not sitting down and taking it. Wisconsin anyone? April 6th in Austin: be there. —Arthur Valdez
