Local food trucks helping feed the displaced in Missouri, and SA’s French restaurants disappearing

Recent tornados and severe storms in Missouri and Oklahoma have left many people in need. While many local organizations have pitched in to help, local food trucks are driving north to cook for anyone who’s been displaced in those states. Tin Can Tacos and Wheelie Gourmet just returned from Joplin, Mo., and Wheelie is headed that way again in a couple weeks. You can support their efforts by donating through Paypal. Track ’em via Twitter at @tincantacos and @wheeliegourmet.

Tangere and Shiraz may have left McCullough Avenue, but will the ghosts of eateries past help the new tenant in their former space? McCullough Avenue Grill, offering standard diner fare for lunch Tuesday through Friday and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, is daring to find out.

Finally: Where are all the French restaurants? Le Midi folded a few months ago, and Brasserie Pavil closed on May 31 with no warning and no plans to relocate. Considering sister Watermark Grill pulled the same move earlier this year, it appears the writing is on the wall for Pavil.
