Natural gas rises

CPS Energy will hold a public meeting, 6 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Villita Assembly Building, 401 Villita, to take public comments on a proposed increase in natural-gas rates. According to CPS, the utility has not adjusted the gas base rate since 1991. The proposed increase is projected to be $2.96/month on the “service availability charge” portion of the gas bill for residential and small commercial customers. The board plans to make a recommendation at its May 1 meeting, but City Council has final authority over the decision. Visit for more info.
