"Mistaken," and a cameo in the teen flick, "10 Things I Hate About You," the band who many critics considered a No Doubt clone has called it quits. The music, however, is still floating around, along with rumors of ill-dealings and bad blood.

Save Ferris songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Brian Mashburn announced the band breakup in December on a Save Ferris Internet forum with harsh words to rival the Fred Durst-Britney Spears feud: "For the most part, me and the others were being deceived by this one person and their management team. is referring to former Save Ferris lead vocalist Monique Powell, who is currently touring with a band that, along with a few new faces, includes former Save Ferris musicians Steve "Baby Bird" White on trumpet, and Evan Kilbourne on drums. In a letter to Save Ferris fans on, Powell writes: "Unfortunately, I am not able to tour under the name Save Ferris. However, this will not stop me from accomplishing my goal of playing Save Ferris songs for as many fans as possible. From this point forward, I will be touring under my own name, Monique Powell. Although the name is different, rest assured that I will be playing your Save Ferris favorites, as well as some fun new covers and maybe a few new songs."

As in a divorce, Powell keeps the property, but not the name. The real question is: Who gets to keep the fans? •
