Organized by the McNay’s own René Paul Barilleaux, the large-scale photography survey “Telling Tales” comprises 50-plus images by 17 revered photographers, including such contemporary masters as Nan Goldin, Gregory Crewdson, Philip-Lorca diCorcia and Jeff Wall. Encompassing purism and digital manipulation alike, the assembled photographs construct suspended stories that address everything from class differences and marginalized communities to social justice and the onset of the AIDS epidemic.
