The Pampered Palate's sandwich selection is vast with a variety of tantalizing tastes, from tuna salad to Monterrey chicken to portobello mushroom with tahini sauce. But 10 o'clock craves the comfort of breakfast fare, and we ordered over the counter as the two women chopped onions and chatted. They pointed out a pot of fresh-brewed coffee in the corner, and got down to business at the griddle. We sat in a bright corner of one of the two tiny, adjoined dining rooms, sipping the sweetness of morning beverages (sugary coffee and ice-cold orange juice) and thinking about our mothers, who would just love it here. - Wendi Kimura
