Don't call 'em comeback kids. The members of the now defunct rock band Jackie on Acid may reunite to make enough noise to raise the dead, but they don't intend to linger long after the show.

"This last hurrah is us making peace with each other, as well as closure for some of us musically," explains former bassist John Cortez. "We will be giving away all of our remaining self-titled CDs at the show to everyone who attends, thus making it an event for all of our fans, as well as for fans of music in general."

The band's lineup for its final reunion set will reflect Jackie on Acid at its strongest, according to Cortez, featuring frontwomen Jenny Jimenez and Tracy Carrasco, drummer Tony Jimenez, guitarist Eddie Hernandez, and Cortez. "Eddie and I aren't the founding guitarist and bassist, but we wanted this lineup," says Cortez, who left the band nearly a year and a half ago to pursue projects

with Pseudo Buddha and the Echo Squad. "Once Eddie decided he couldn't be in the band anymore, there was a steady decline, a lot of lineup changes. But we always felt we were the strongest with him in the group. It's only fitting that he's the guitar player that night."

Hernandez, who plays with Sexto Sol and Tower Automatic, will join the original members of Jackie on Acid at Sin 13 on Thursday, July 3, with opening bands Pistola, Suzy Bravo, and Gamera. The evening also marks Pistola's last performance.

"I'm glad that we can all get together for one last show to jam," says Cortez. "It's sad, but it's time to put the band on the shelf and let it go." •
