Violence is never a solution to problems — even in football, a game wrought in conflict.
Last Friday, a member of John Jay High School's football team was ejected during a game against Marble Falls' high school football team after two players decided to knock the hell out of a referee.
The San Antonio Express-News reports that one of the players who barreled into the ref wasn't even ejected because he had been misidentified. That player went on to be penalized for a late hit on the opposing quarterback. Now police are investigating the "attack," according to the Express-News.
On September 4, 2015 the Marble Falls High School hosted San Antonio John Jay High School for Friday night football. During the game, two players from John Jay High School targeted one of the game officials and blindsided him, knocking him to the ground. The incident was recorded on video from several different angles and the Marble Falls Police Department is conducting an investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. An update will be released within the week.
One commenter to Jay High School's Facebook page alleged that the referee made derogatory racist comments toward members of the San Antonio football team, which are being investigated, according to today's Express-News story.
