Blue Bell will be back on San Antonio shelves on December 14, according to the company's website
The much-loved creamery has been on hiatus since April, when it recalled all of its products due to contamination by Listeria bacteria. The bacteria killed three people and hospitalized several more.
Since then, Blue Bell has struggled for positive press. Former factory workers spoke out about plant conditions
, health inspection reports described maintenance and sanitation issues
and over a thousand people lost their jobs as the company struggled to stay afloat. It looked like the iconic Texas confectioner might shut down for good until Fort Worth investor Sid Bass stepped in with a multimillion dollar loan to keep the doors open.
Despite those issues, and the more troubling questions about whether Blue Bell knew about potential health risks and sold ice cream anyway, loyal customers have welcome Blue Bell back with open arms. Shoppers swarmed grocery stores where Blue Bell has reappeared.
By December 14, Blue Bell will be back in all but a dozen counties in Texas. The waiting game continues for those poor bastards.
The wait is almost over.
