Texas is known for its quick-trigger, tumultuous weather patterns. Now a new interactive map from an environmental nonprofit shows a full account of recent violent weather in the state.

The map, released by advocacy group Environment Texas, shows where natural disasters have occurred in the Lone Star State over the past five years. It also includes personal stories from people impacted by certain events.

The map is meant to show the influence of climate change in the region, which exacerbates extreme weather patterns.

"Every year, weather-related disasters injure or kill hundreds of Americans and cause billions of dollars in damage. Many of the risks posed by extreme weather will likely increase in a warming world. Scientists have already noted increases in extreme precipitation and heat waves as global warming raises temperatures and exacerbates weather extremes," the news release from Environment Texas stated.

Check out the full interactive map below:
The map uses data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the United States Department of Agriculture. It shows four disasters in San Antonio, all droughts. South Texas counties Wilson and Hidalgo each had nine disasters over the time period — mostly droughts — which topped the region.
