Maybe it's because Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton provided some motivation, but there are more people registered to vote in Bexar County than ever before.

More than one million people have registered to vote in the 2016 presidential election, the first time Bexar County has ever surpassed the 10-figure mark. County Elections Administrator Jacquelyn F. Callanen wasn't available for comment Wednesday, but she told TWC News that 100,000 more people have registered to vote in this election compared to the last. However, the controversial Trump and Clinton race might not exactly be the reason there's been an increase in registered voters. It might just be a population boost, Callanen told TWC News.

But just because 1,012,720 people have registered to vote in Bexar County doesn't mean they'll all show up to the polls. During the 2012 presidential election, just over 56 percent of the county's 920,277 registered voters showed up to the polls. The 2008 election was about the same, with 57 percent of the county's 931,028 registered voters participating in the election, according to Bexar County Elections Department records.
