Gayby's Monday Musings: Spurs hold top spot in Western Conference

Posted By on Mon, Jan 3, 2011 at 3:26 PM

The calendar changed to 2011 and the San Antonio Spurs kept rolling, in Oklahoma City’s case — steamrolling. Lead by Duncan’s 21 points and 9 rebounds, the Spurs victory concocted several statistical appetizers, including the Spurs' largest margin of victory this season (27); the lowest point-total allowed by the stingy Spurs defense, and the lowest scoring output by the young-gunning Thunder at 74.

Holding down the number one spot in the NBA standings at 29-4, the Spurs begin a challenging road trip with a back-to-back Tuesday/Wednesday against the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics, respectively. Thirty-three games into the 2010-2011 season and the San Antonio Spurs have played a league-leading 21 home games.

Upcoming Schedule

  • Tuesday - AWAY versus New York Knicks (19-14) 6:30 PM Fox Sports Southwest
  • Wednesday - AWAY versus Boston Celtics (25-7) 6:30 PM Fox Sports Southwest
  • Thursday - AWAY versus Indiana Pacers (14-18) 6:00 PM Fox Sports Southwest
  • Sunday - HOME versus Minnesota Timberwolves (9-25) 6:00 PM Fox Sports Southwest

DeJuan Blair’s Twitter Affirmation of the Week: Zing.

Tim Duncan whispers sweet nothings to/checks breath against Thabo Sefalosha’s left elbow: Here.

Spurs need your vote(s): Vote often.

What’s a Monday Musings without Blake Griffin?: Trick question.

For at least one night, Sacramento Kings fans stayed for an entire game and left with a smile: No, really. I’m serious.
