When Andy Hendrickson first performed at the Rivercenter Comedy Club he was surrounded by a different world. The club was feeling the wear and tear of hosting 18 years of performances, evidenced by a fading paint job and a back drop stripped from the title theme of Saved by the Bell. The crowds were slim and everyone was feeling the tight economy.

Flash forward a year and a half and you wouldn’t recognize where you’re at. The owners have done a miraculous job updating everything from the stage to the seating to the main bar. With a fresh new marketing campaign and somewhat improved economy, the crowds are filling up even on what have usually been off nights.

Andy Hendrickson has gone through similar changes, as well. When I first saw him he was already very funny, playing huge universities and colleges. But he’s been crafting his act hard since then and climbing up the ranks of New York’s  competitive club scene.

Now sharper than ever, Andy hits the stage extremely natural, with a brilliant yet subtle style of humor that needs no crazy dance moves or exaggerated facial expressions.

Check out this recent sketch he filmed along with some very talented New York comedians spoofing the recent movie The Change-Up.

Then catch Andy Hendrickson at the Rivercenter Comedy Club at 8:30 p.m. Wed-Sun with two late shows at 10:30 p.m. on Fri and Sat. (210) 229-1420.
