Posted on Wed, Aug 29, 2012 at 11:50 AM

Emeka

Nigerian artist Emeka Okoro came to the U.S. in 1985 and now works in competitive intelligence at USAA. Inspired by the cultural representations and bright colors of the Oshogbo Movement, Okoro’s vivid paintings are but one piece of an artistic puzzle that also includes rugs, apparel, and accessories — some of which directly reference the 50th anniversary of Nigerian independence.  Free (drinks and appetizers available for purchase); 5-8pm Wed, Aug 29; The Bright Shawl, 819 Augusta, (210) 225-6366, brightshawl.com.
