The 1965 Italian gothic horror movie Bloody Pit of Horror, allegedly based on the writings of the Marquis de Sade, is the springboard for Sheer Bloody Lunacy! — a cabaret-horror-comedy-musical adapted for the stage by Jon Gillespie. True to the film (which stars Mr. Universe 1955 Mickey Hargitay as a musclebound lunatic possessed by the spirit of a 17th-century sadist) the play follows the trespassing crew of a photoshoot into a seemingly abandoned castle equipped with a dungeon-full of torture devices overseen by the Crimson Executioner. Brought to Boneshakers by PUB-Lick Theatre Productions for two nights only, the musical features a live disco-rock soundtrack created by Phillip Luna and promises “lingerie models, blood, half-naked men, fight scenes, hilarious choreography, weird effects, and, a ludicrous plot.” $10; 10:30pm Fri, Oct 26; Boneshakers Tap House and Pizzeria, 306 Austin, (210) 319-8155, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
