Pick of the Day: Ballet San Antonio presents Dracula

Posted on Sun, Oct 28, 2012 at 9:50 AM

Dracula

In an elegant lead-in to Halloween, Ballet San Antonio reprises its original adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Gothic vampire epic Dracula. Set to a “haunting score” by Philip Feeney, choreographed by artistic director Gabriel Zertuche, and enhanced with costumes and sets fabricated by Boerne’s SRO Associates, the season opener stars Sarah Aujon as  soon-to-be-married Mina Murray (fiancée of Transylvania-bound attorney Jonathan Harker), Saki Yabumoto as sleepwalking flirt Lucy Westenra (Mina’s irresistible BFF), and  Ian Morris as timeless bloodsucker Count Dracula. Leaping from London to the depths of Transylvania and back again, the production differs slightly from last year’s premiere thanks to “minor adjustments” and the addition of BSA’s new artistic forces Dede Barfield and Raul Salamanca. $15-$70; 3pm Sun, Oct 28; Lila Cockrell Theatre, 200 E Market, (210) 224-9600, balletsanantonio.org.
