Stay Current with the Pick of the Day: Thingamajigy Fayre

Posted on Sat, Mar 16, 2013 at 7:00 AM

Powered by steam and propelled by switches, levers, and gears, the fictional technology introduced by Jules Verne and H. G. Wells (and taken to the next level by cyberpunk pioneers William Gibson and Bruce Sterling) helped spark the steampunk craze. The sci-fi offshoot thrives in blogs and websites offering everything from Victorian-inspired frocks and airship captain goggles to salvaged machinery and “modern heirlooms” like polished brass computer keyboards. NDG Productions brings the “industrial cut-and-paste” movement home with Thingamajigy Fayre — a weekend filled with specialty vendors, cosplay, fashion shows, and performances by apocalyptic folk enigma Addisyn Madd, Zombie Bazaar Belly Dance, Aerial Dance San Antonio, and DJ Crescendoll. Free, 10am-9pm Saturday, noon-6pm Sunday, Wonderland of the Americas, 4522 Fredericksburg, (210) 785-3500, Check out our full online calendar of upcoming events here:
