A Fiesta fixture since 1973, the Southwest School of Art’s Fiesta Arts Fair wraps the citywide celebration’s colorful spirit into a kid-friendly affair filled with live music, food and drinks from La Margarita, a Target-sponsored Children’s Art Garden, and some of the season’s most unique browsing and shopping. Showcasing more than 100 artists in outdoor booths that snake across the school’s Ursuline Campus, this year’s fair rounds up local favorites like Diana Kersey (ceramics), Laura Quiñones (jewelry), and Jane Bishop (fiber art) along with visitors from 20-plus states including Kansas-based sculptor Anthony Pack (last year’s Best in Show winner), California’s Dakota Pratt (who covers functional sculptures in flattened bottle caps), and Illinois-based glass artist Richard Ryan. Equally eclectic, the weekend’s live soundtrack runs the gamut from Cajun and Latin to blues and rock, with the all-female Original Pinettes Brass Band (New Orleans) and Grammy-winning polka outfit Brave Combo (Denton) highlighting Saturday’s lineup and SA’s own Suzy Bravo & The Soul Revue capping the festivities off on Sunday afternoon. $5-$10 daily, $16 for a weekend pass, 10am-6pm Sat, 11am-5pm Sun, Southwest School of Art, 300 Augusta, (210) 224-1848, swschool.org.
