In conjunction with its Summer of '83 and Tough Guy Cinema series, Alamo Drafthouse walks "the thin white line between moral drama and celebratory excess" with a revival screening of Brian De Palma's American crime classic Scarface. A remake of a 1932 adaptation of Armitage Trail's 1929 novel of the same name, the film centers around Tony Montana (Al Pacino), a Cuban immigrant determined to take over a Miami drug cartel in 1980. Riddled with gun violence and grenade launching and rounded out with cussing and cocaine-snorting, Scarface got slapped with an X rating three times before De Palma enlisted professional narcotics officers to help convince 20 members of the ratings board it deserved an R rating for its "realistic" depiction of the drug underworld. In 2005, the line "Say hello to my little friend!" (spoken by Montana in reference to his M16A1's M203-grenade-launcher) took 61st place on the American Film Institute's list of "100 Years... 100 Movie Quotes." $9.50, 7pm Monday, Alamo Drafthouse Westlakes, 1255 SW Loop 410, (210) 677-8500, drafthouse.com.
