1. Peitra y El Lobo (Peter and the Wolf) a Ballet- Tuesday August 13- Thursday, August 15

San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department presents Peitra y El Lobo, a ballet. Enjoy the classic ballet performance along with Spanish folk and Flamenco dancing at the Arneson River Theater from 8-9 p.m. Admission is free, just sit back and enjoy San Antonio’s version of Peter and the Wolf. Remember to bring blankets and plenty of bug spray.

2. Kidcation Movie Night- Wednesday, August 14

As part of Kidcation Week enjoy a free family movie at Hemisfair Park. Animal Care services will host an adoption information session at 7:30 followed by the feature film, Zookeeper at 8:30.Load up the kids and make sure you remember to pack your picnic baskets, blankets, lawn chairs and bug spray for a night of free fun.

3. McNay Mash-up- Thursday, August 15

It’s that time again for another Mash-Up from the McNay Lecture Series. In store for this week is Jackie Edwards and Justin Parr. Space is limited, so call to reserve your space for the Pre-War/Post- War Fashion and Hire Photography vs. Higher Photography lecture and see if you can make the mash-up connection.

4. Clint Taft & the Buck Wild Band- Friday, August 16

Join one of San Antonio’s hottest acts in Country music this Friday at Texas Pride Barbeque. This high-energy band performs original music, current and classic country, rock and various styles in between. Grab your best boots and dancing partner, the show starts at 7 pm.

5. Fitness in the Park- Saturday, August 17

Enjoy free fitness and exercise classes in parks, pools, and facilities throughout San Antonio this Saturday! Open to all ages and fitness levels. 6. Farmer's Market at the Pearl- Saturday, August 17

Every Saturday, Pearl is host to a producers only farmer's market. All vendors provide fresh, local, and seasonal products. Check out some of these seasonal products this weekend; cantaloupe, eggplant, pears, okra, sweet potatoes, and watermelon just to name a few. Grab your shopping bags, sunglasses and come meet your local food producers at this free farmer's market. (In case you were wondering, the food isn’t free, just admission)

7. La Villita Presents Americana Rod Fest (ARF)- Saturday, August 17

This Saturday from noon to 8 pm the La Villita Historic Arts Village will host an exciting festival featuring Americana music, Texas Pushrods Car Club Show and Shine Dog Adoptions. You won’t want to miss this day of live music, hot rods, and more. Food and drinks will be available and live music will be by Ruben V, Cedar Squeezers, Tennessee Valley Authority, Hillbilly Jug Band, Eddie Polanco & Ray Smyzek, and Ron Young & TJ Troilo.

8. FrankenBike #39- Saturday, August 17

Calling all San Antonio Cyclists, this month’s FrankenBike will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at Red-D Bikes in SouthTown. This event is free (Duh!) and will feature bikes, local brews, music and fun for all ages. What’s FrankenBike you ask?–well let me share some knowledge. FrankenBike is a free bike swamp meet that is open to anyone who wants to buy, sell, or trade bicycle related gear or parts.

9. Outdoor Movie Screening “The Alamo”- Saturday, August 17

How often do you get to watch The Alamo at the actual Alamo? Probably never, right? Then you won’t want to miss this exclusive event. Allies of the Alamo will host a screening of the 2004 film this Saturday at 8:30 pm. Gates will open at 7:30 and unfortunately space is limited to the first 400 people in line, so you know what that means, get there extra early to guarantee your seat.

10. Let’s READ! Kids Back to School Fest Kidcation Finale- Sunday, August 18

For the Grand Finale of Kidcation Week, families can revel in make and take crafts, airbrushing and hair styling, musical performances, storytelling, book giveaways, an instrument petting zoo and much much more. Held in the heart of the city, Main Plaza from 9 am to noon, celebrate education and imagination at the Let’s READ! Kids’s Back to School Fest and snag some sweet back to school swag (while supplies last).
