The 10th annual Chalk It Up event hosted by Artpace promises to be filled with opportunities to well- chalk it up in the streets of downtown San Antonio. This year however, Artpace will not only showcase the work of talented local artists but also the work of children who will create an assemblage of monochromatic objects similar to the work of Artpace founder, Linda Pace. Currently on view in the Hudson Show Room, is “Orange Crush”, where Pace used different objects all in the same color to create an appealing collage of laundry detergent, stuffed animals, scarves and shoes.

Kaela Hoskings, Curator of Education at Artpace, wants to make art accessible to the community and she is certainly doing that in a big way! Kids will be invited to re-create a work of art similar to “Orange Crush” but with three walls. In order for this magic to happen, Artpace is asking for red, orange and green items you would normally send to donation centers such as- toys, books and small household objects as well as clean, recyclable materials to be dropped off at Artpace in their respective boxes before next Friday, October 11th by 5pm.

The 10th annual Chalk It Up event will take place on Saturday, October 12th from 10am to 4pm on downtown Houston Street.
