Three of Texas’ most established and popular artists that were instrumental in the development of Cinnabar Return to San Antonio for a highly anticipated show. George Krause returns to Cinnabar after his solo show San Miguel Exposed received the choice award for Foto Septiembre 2013. This time he will be exhibiting his iconic prints that have gained him entrance into some of the most elite collections in the world including MOMA - NYC, Library of Congress in DC, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Catherine Lee has public collections spanning the globe, including MOMA- NYC, The Tate Gallery London, San Francisco MOMA, Irish Museum of Modern Art- Dublin, Museum of Fine Arts Boston. Locally her collections include The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, The Blanton Museum in Austin and a 2013 acquisition by San Antonio’s McNay Art Museum. Lee will be showing three of her Sibyls—free standing sculptures in fabricated bronze with patination. McKay Otto is continually evolving while at the same time returning to his classic style exhibiting the Chinese Bi. Accompanying his paintings are Tibetan bowls that activate a chakra to complement his work. At Cinnabar he will be revealing a new facet of his work- his cork series alongside his classic nylon on board expressions. Read Dan R. Head to the McNay for a night of free music on the museum grounds, featuring DJ JJ Lopez, spinning a combination of soul, funk, and jazz, and food on sale from Bite Street Bistro and Teka Molino food trucks. Crispin Ciders will supply the beer. Becker Vineyards is pouring the wine. Check out our slideshow from last month's event. Fiesta's colorful diversity is reflected in the variety of paintings, prints, jewelry, pottery and other artistic expressions displayed during this Fiesta tradition. This event was created to share with and educate the community on the value and respect we should give our planet. It's the land, water and air we breathe and live in. The event will include entertainment stages, food (vegetarian) and beverage booths, tree-planting demonstrations, 5K run, workshops and seminars demonstrating various energy and conservation ideas and techniques. Family Flicks is a new outdoor film series in collaboration with San Antonio Museum of Art. Special performances and art activities begin one hour prior to screening time; films begin promptly at sundown. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics. St Mary’s St Special Event: Fiesta Nueva 10:45am-4pm, Sunday, April 13 Kick off your Fiesta week with a celebration for the entire family with a special Mariachi Worship Service that features past and present royalty of the Lutheran Coronation. Enjoy an afternoon filled with games and rides for the children, food and drink booths and musical entertainment. All proceeds benefit the ministries of St. John's and the St. John's Day School. The City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development is sponsoring the 2014 Peru Festival. Get a taste of Peruvian culture though traditional food, drink, music, folk dance, and the arts at La Villita Historic Arts Village. All events are free and open to the public.   The Network for Young Artists (NYA) presents its inaugural official Fiesta event, the Deco District Arts and Music Festival. This free, world-class, outdoor celebration brings together local residents and tourists to the Historic Deco District, offering dozens of performances by local and national musicians of all ages, street vendors, diverse food/drink menu and community spirit for all to enjoy. A modern and eccentric interpretation of a historical event where competitors came from all over to test their chili against others recipes. While the chili competition has not changed, the word, “Queen” has been expanded to not just the belle of the ball, but the tackiest of the tacky. The event is complete with a tasting of chili (the official dish of Texas), the tackiest Queen drag competition and the hottest dance music on the main dance floor. All proceeds benefit the San Antonio AIDS Foundation Kitchen. Location: The Bonham Exchange, 411 Bonham
