While San Antonio's ghosts are here year-round, October and Halloween bring heightened awareness to the Alamo City's dedicated paranormal investigators.

And since we're one of the oldest city's in the country in an area that humans have inhabited for thousands upon thousands of years, we have our share of unexplainable paranormal occurrences.

Here's a few paranormal groups conducting ghost tours. And there are plenty of groups, so if you want us to know about a tour, email with your info.

First off, the Ghost Seekers of Texas will conduct tours each Friday and Saturday in October at 9 and 11 p.m. There will not be a tour on Halloween night. The group is investigating an active Masonic lodge. To secure a spot call (210) 316-2177.

Another popular group is called Alamo City Ghost Tours. It runs a daily SA After Dark Tour. Its Haunted Jail Tour is October 10 and the Haunted Cave Tour is October 30. Last year, one of our writers went on one of the Alamo City Ghost Tours.

Another outfit that offers daily tours is Alamo City Paranormal Ghost Hunts. This organization boasts that it's the oldest ghost tour in San Antonio. They meet every night at 8:30 p.m. in front of the Alamo at the Cenotaph. It costs $10.

There's also Dark Mayhem, which is located in the haunted Victoria's Black Swan Inn. On October 24, Halloween revelers will be able to participate in a "horror-themed scavenger hunt, a wicked game of flag tag with ghouls and zombies, sinister movie viewing" and an overnight camping adventure. Tickets start at $10.

On Halloween, Dark Mayhem's Haunted Trail — also at Victoria's Black Swan Inn — runs from 7 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are $5.

Sisters Grimm Ghost Tours is another fun group that offers an array of ways to meet San Antonio's paranormal residents. The Sisters Grimm offers ghost walks and dinner tours, including access to the notoriously haunted Menger Hotel.
