If you, like so many others, are looking for a bit of simple joy, laughter and color in a new year fraught with new tensions and new fears, you’ll want to spend some time with this latest exhibit from artist Jen Frost Smith. As if being whimsically (and optimistically) titled “Good Vibes” wasn’t enough of a clue that this is a feel-good show, the artist explains in her statement that these works are intended to give people “a moment to escape the harsh reality of the world and recharge [their] energy meter.” This new exhibition will feature colorful paintings, funny drawings, assemblages, and installations, all collected in the name of removing “the bad juju of the last few months.” With some extra surprises also promised, “Good Vibes” looks like, perhaps more than the typical art show, a chance to let your guard down and embrace silliness — a natural antidote to stress. Free, 7-10pm Fri, Clamp Light Studios, 1704 Blanco Road, Suite 104, (512) 569-8134,
