With temperatures already hitting the low 90s, chances are that San Antonio's sticky spring has got you looking for a refreshing way to cool down. If you're not one of the fortunate ones that have access to a private pool, you're probably stuck waiting (like me) until the local public pools open. Luckily, the wait is almost over.

Beginning Saturday, May 6, Heritage Pool (1423 Ellison Drive), Lady Bird Johnson (10700 Nacogdoches), South Side Lions (3100 Hiawatha) and Woodlawn Pool (221 Alexander Ave.) will open to the public from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sundays. Swimmers looking to get a workout can take advantage of the lap swim times from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays.

All outdoor pools, including this year's Best of San Antonio Public Swimming Pool winner San Pedro Springs Park Pool (2200 N. Flores St.), will open June 10 through Aug. 13. All pools will open Tuesday through Sunday, with open swim from 2 to 8 p.m. at Fairchild, Kennedy, San Pedro, Springtime and Sunset pools. And in case you're already planning your Independence Day celebration, all pools will open on July 4.

So if you haven't already gone bathing suit shopping or dug up your swimsuit from last summer yet, better get on it. Summer is fast approaching and it's almost time to make a splash.
