For some San Antonians — let’s call them the well-seasoned set — it may be hard to believe that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the 1968 World’s Fair and the creation of iconic Hemisfair Park. For the rest of us, it’s hard to believe there was ever a time without the cherished space in the city’s center. Whichever category you fall into, you’re invited to celebrate the still-evolving, ever-charming public treasure in grand fashion.

While we would need a few pages (not exaggerating) to enumerate all of the activities/festivities there are to enjoy during this three-day celebration, live music (from the likes of King Pelican, URBAN-15, and more), food and drinks (from a host of vendors), a freakin’ wine festival (at Tower of the Americas on Saturday), historical and arts programming galore, galas, tons of fun and educational kids’ stuff, and a retro 1960s car show (on Sunday) are just a few of the delights you can expect to experience at this fête fit for 50 years.

Free, 5-10pm Fri Apr 6, noon-9pm Sat Apr 7, noon-5pm Sun Apr 8, Hemisfair, 434 S. Alamo St., (210) 709-4750,
