Poet Laureates Octavio Quintanilla and Jenny Browne Leading Discussion of Literacy in San Antonio

Posted By on Wed, Jun 27, 2018 at 2:44 PM

It is not often, unfortunately, that we have to say “get there early or you won’t get a seat” about a poetry event. That’s totally the case, however, with this week’s talk at the San Antonio Museum of Art that boasts outgoing Poet Laureate of San Antonio and 2017 Poet Laureate of Texas Jenny Browne and new San Antonio Poet Laureate Dr. Octavio Quintanilla (pictured).

This special event will feature a sit-down dialogue between the two poets, covering a variety of literacy and literary topics, preceded by a solo lecture from Quintanilla in which he discusses his own work. It promises to be an engaging evening of discussion that, appropriate for our Tricentennial reflections, highlights the current state of literary thought and work in San Antonio. Seating for this free event is limited, and these two esteemed poets can draw a crowd.

Free, Fri Jun 29, 6:30-7:30pm (doors at 6pm), San Antonio Museum of Art, John L. Santikos Auditorium, 200 W. Jones Ave., (210) 978-8100,
