Former Spur Boris Diaw Announces Retirement

Posted By on Fri, Sep 7, 2018 at 10:43 AM

Boris Diaw has retired from the NBA.

The former Spur took to social media Thursday to make the announcement. In a video with former Spur Tony Parker and retired Ronny Turiaf, Diaw said in French that "it" was official.
The 36-year-old said he had a "good run" in the NBA in the tweet teasing his announcement. Diaw played with the Spurs for five seasons and was part of the 2014 championship team that all of San Antonio is still nostalgic about. In total, he played 18 seasons in the NBA and also played in France.

In a nearly 20-minute video of his conversation with Parker and Turiaf, Diaw said he is happy with the career he's had and knows it's time to hang up his sneakers.
Despite being traded from the Spurs in 2016, his place as a fan favorite has kept him in good standing in San Antonio. After leaving San Antonio Diaw played one season with the Utah Jazz before being waived. He spent the 2017-2018 season playing in France.
