Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon was among a handful of women who starred in a recent female-centric Macy's ad.
The chain department store recently released its "Remarkable You" commercial to promote its fall 2018 women's collection. With No Doubt's "Just A Girl" playing throughout the commercial, the commercial spotlights six badass women as they get ready to go to work. The women include a public defender, an aerospace engineer, civil engineer, teacher, orchestra conductor and NBA assistant coach, our very own Hammon.
The minute-long commercial includes shots of Hammon getting dressed, strutting into a basketball arena and yelling instructions to some players.
The campaign also includes an interview with Hammon, who shared that she would always shower and put on makeup before games as a player in the WNBA.
"I always say, 'Look good, perform well,'" she said in the interview.
Of course, she touched a bit more on fashion, saying that her wardrobe consists of patterns and colors, but that she keeps it simple with sneakers rather than stilettos.
And because the ad is geared toward females of all ages, Hammon talked about being a role model.
"Being a role model is obviously one of the biggest responsibilities that I have, not only to young girls and women, but it's important that little boys see women being capable in their jobs and exceeding expectations and really actually even getting opportunities," she said.
Hammon also offered some self-love advice.
"At the end of the day, it's most important what you think about yourself and believe
about yourself than what anyone says," she said.
