In anticipation of street closures and traffic congestion, VIA is making transportation easier for those attending Chalk It Up on Saturday.

Artpace's annual event, now in its 15th year, will turn a small portion of downtown into a welcoming space for artists and those who want to add a little color to their Saturday. With streets surrounding the area being shut down and parking being tricky, VIA has partnered with Artpace to provide fare-free service on all VIVA routes on Saturday.

The bus system's VIVA routes are fare-free every Saturday this month to encourage San Antonians to support special events happening along the three VIVA corridors. VIVA routes include culture (11), missions (40) and centro (301).

Chalk It Up will transform Houston Street into a giant chalk canvas, allowing local artists to showcase their work and raise funds for art education. This family-friendly event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will also include food trucks and live music.
