Usually quiet about his life, Spurs legend Tim Duncan recently opened up — specifically about his success and how it meant all eyes were on him.

In an Instagram clip posted by BlackJack Speed Shop, which Duncan owns, the basketball star sat down with a 17-year-old fan who asked what Duncan's life was like at his age.

"I know at 17 what I wanted to do was make sure I made it to college, make sure I could get a scholarship," Duncan said.

After graduating from Wake Forest University, Duncan was considered a top pick for the 1997 NBA Draft, which he said surprised him. His raw talent and success early in career made him work even harder.
"With all that success early, all that did was put a target on my back," he said. "Everybody wanted to be better than me. Everybody wanted to beat me. Everybody wanted to beat the Spurs, so that's the motivation to stay on top."

Duncan's motivation is evident in the Spurs' five championships during his 19-year career. To this day, many basketball experts and fans consider Duncan the best NBA power forward of all time.

The full version of the interview is expected to go up on the BlackJack website this weekend.
