Around this same time last year, Portland transplant Carye Bye (aka the “Museum Lady”) inaugurated the program ArtCycle as a means to combine her passions for public art and organized bike rides. Encouraging locals and visitors alike to “stay curious” about San Antonio and “explore our city as a museum,” the initiative launched with a pedal-powered tour of humor-driven projects by prolific public artist Gary Sweeney and picks back up with a ride dedicated to the work of beloved local ceramicist Diana Kersey.

Known for an easily recognizable aesthetic that incorporates rich colors and intricate motifs inspired by nature, Kersey produces functional wares that can be found in the homes of many San Antonio collectors as well as architectural installations that enhance bridges, walkways and a busy Five Points bus stop. Co-led by Bye and Kersey and scheduled just in time for National Bike Month, the roughly 10-mile ride promises a relaxed pace with multiple stops — including one at Kersey’s studio — between Olmos Park Terrace and Brackenridge Park. Attendees should bring a bike lock, lunch money and a suggested donation of $10 for the ride, which benefits local bike advocacy nonprofits.

$10, 10am-12:30pm Sun May 19, meets at Triangle Park (corner of Howard St. and W. Mandalay Dr.), (503) 48-4454, email carye@caryebye.com for details.
