Bar Louie – La Cantera
15900 La Cantera Pkwy
This place has a lot going for it when it comes to pleasing parents in need of a beverage. They have a kid’s menu and those awesome plastic cups with jumbo straws that you can bring home with you and reuse. Smoke free, patio seating offers plenty of distraction and a nearby fountain is an ideal photo op backdrop for Facebrag posts. When shit really hits the fan, ‘designated parent’ can always cart the kid to the playground on the other side of La Cantera.

No, they don’t have a kid’s menu and they don’t even stock crayons. Plastic colorful cups with jumbo straws? They don’t have ‘em, bring your own. They do however have a very kid friendly food menu, plenty of large TVs and some of the most pleasant staff hubby and I have encountered while out dining with the toddler. Junior can build their own pizza and zone out to more than a handful of televised games while you enjoy a brew. Especially notable is the super cool and very busy open kitchen ideal for the designated parent and kiddo to check out while non-designated parent holds down the table.

The Farmer’s Market at the Pearl
In front the historic Brewhouse

What is it about Saturday mornings that make us parents need to drink? Perhaps it is the weekend that now starts at dawn Saturday instead of noon. Since you are up anyway, head out to the Pearl to pick out a few seasonal, local fruits and veggies. Soap, bread, cheese and pesto – the Pearl has got those too. Live music and occasional art installations make for a lively experience. Grab a beer or sangria and enjoy the scene. Bonus points for having a stroller with a cup holder. Oh and bring cash.

With a rotating selection of food trucks, the little one will always have their choice of a meal. A playground ensures they will be worn out by the time y’all are ready to head home but if your little one is on the younger side, you will be too be worn out as supervision is surely needed. The Point boasts an open air bar with a wide selection of craft beer and wine.
